Patagosaurus (“Patagonian lizard”) was a sauropod dinosaur who lived during the Middle Jurassic, about 165 million years ago. It was about 45 feet (14 meters) long. Patagosaurus was a member of the cetiosaurids, a sauropod family whose remains are found the world over. Other members of this family are Cetiosaurus in England, Barapasaurus in India, Haplocanthosaurus in the United States, Shunosaurus in China and Rhoetosaurus in Australia. Patagosaurus was first found in the Cañadon Asfalto Formation in Patagonia, Argentina.
